“Many great trails at Bishop Peak. Head straight up for more strenuous or do the loop to stay at mid height level.”

“This area is known for great hiking trails. Some trails are easier than others and there are plenty of websites with hiking info. This isn't the easiest hike, but it's one that is probably the most well known. Below are two different trail entrances: To get to the Highland Drive Trailhead: From Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo, take exit 203 B to Highway 1 North. Drive north for one mile toward Morro Bay and turn left onto Highland Drive. Continue another mile to the cul-de-sac at road’s end. Roadside parking is available. Alternatively, you can start from the lower trailhead on Patricia Drive, which is also used for Felsman Loop Trail. “Lovely open space with the eerily dry lake bed. Amazing perspective on California drought. Lots of hiking trails and disc golf. ”

“Only about a 10-minute walk/hike up. The top is flat with benches—perfect for watching the sunset. ”

“SLO's famous in-town peak. Rises to about 1,500 feet and offers great views of town. It's 1.9 miles each way. The lower third is shaded, the rest is usually not, so take water. Climbing routes along the lower portion. ”

“The City to the Sea bike trail follows the Pacific Coast Railroad right-of-way along San Luis Obispo Creek to Avila Beach. Starts at the parking lot right off the 101 freeway and ends at the beach.”

“They recently renovated the children's playground and it is a lot of fun! There's a hill for sliding on cardboard and two climbing areas, one for preschoolers and one for bigger kids. There are also tennis and volleyball courts nearby, but they may have reservation requirements.”

“Bike or walk to Avila Beach. This is one of our all time favorite things to do! There are two wineries along the way and seven more in Avila.”

“Really cool little park. Surrounded by a year round creek. Horse shoe pits, swing sets, volleyball court, and huge BBQ pits you can rent. Out of the way, and not many people go which makes it even nicer.”
