“Coyoacán is the place per excellence when you visit Mexico City. In its narrow and cobbled streets of the colonial era, you will find cafes, galleries, museums, churches, restaurants, shops and a lively atmosphere. Here are what were once the homes of Leon Trotsky and Frida Kahlo (whose houses are now museums). Coyoacan is visited by all tourists, it has a decidedly countercultural environment. There is a lot of movement on weekends, when musicians, mimes, magicians, craft makers and people visit their markets and all the attractions in their parks and central squares.”

“This is one of the main stops on the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo pilgrimage, as they lived in this home on and off for twenty years. Their muralist friend Juan O'Gorman designed the now iconic house specifically for them, with separate buildings for each, united by a drawbridge between the two (they notoriously needed a lot of space from one another). It's a quick stop that's mostly worth it for the architecture, with a small temporary exhibition space, a few rooms dedicated to both artists, and Diego's studio, where he made many of his most famous paintings surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and huge paper maché Judas sculptures.”

The palace remained in private hands until near the end of the 19th century. It changed hands several times before being bought by the Sanborns brothers .”

“Vasconcelos Library is one of the Mexico City's biggest and most accessible public libraries. Loaded with books, there's also art and exhibition room in one of the city's most alluring public spaces. Is the masterpiece of contemporary engineer Alberto Kanach, a sort of modern conclave built in the middle of a surrealist garden in Buenavista, Mexico City. Inside, one can wander through the hundreds of square-shaped shelves that embellish its crystal halls. Even though their archive only contains 575 thousand books (collected through its nine years of existence), its subject classification is large. It also has a children’s library, a multimedia room, computers and reading stations”
