“Visitor services are concentrated in five different areas: Grant Grove, Giant Forest, and Foothills areas stay open all year. Cedar Grove and Mineral King open from late spring to early fall. Campgrounds are open in all areas spring through fall; some stay open in winter. Find lodging and other services at Grant Grove, Giant Forest, and Wuksachi year-round, and at Cedar Grove during summer and early fall. Lodging, camping, and other services are also available in the national forests and communities bordering the parks.”

“Majority of the guests who stay at our Airbnb either are planning to visit Sequoia and/ or Yosemite National Park. But what they often miss is the beautiful Kings Canyon National Park that is in between the two more-well-known parks. What I often recommend to guests is to take Highway 180 East to Kings Canyon NP on their way to Sequoia National Park. It is relatively smaller than Sequoia NP, but offer a slightly different scenery. It is also less crowded as well. Guests can spend an hour or so there, and drive to Sequoia NP via Highway 198 West. There's a road near Grant Grove at Kings Canyon NP that can leads you directly to Sequoia NP instead of making a detour around. On your GPS device, type in Kings Canyon National Park, then Sequoia National Park as the destination, you will see the route. Alternatively, you can ask the park rangers at Kings Canyon NP, they will point you to the right direction. ”

“North America’s lowest point. Isn’t the border of Nevad and California. Colorful Rocks, ghost town, moving rocks, basin flats. Amazing National Park. Amazing for photo shoots and selfies. ”

“"The Trail of 100 Giants is the most popular attraction in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, and it’s easy to see why. The trail is easy to get to, it’s short, flat, and paved, and it’s got a lot of really impressive trees. Nonetheless, this is still the National Forest, so it’s not exactly crowded - there might be 5 or 6 groups on the trail at any given moment. There are about 20 really big trees along the trail." aprox 2 hrs away”

“It is the local brewery and hangout. Really good food to go with your beer or wine. Make sure to see the menu as well as the specials board. Know that it can be busy and a little noisy in there. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. ”

“The trees of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains roughly an hour’s drive to the east of Bishop are the oldest recorded living thing on earth. A millennium older than the Giant Sequoia trees in the nearby Sierra, many are well over 2,000 years old and the “Methuselah” tree in Schulman Grove is dated at more than 4,773 years old. These trees were young and growing at the time stone axes were being used in Europe, the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) was being built, and cuneiform clay tablets were being used in northern Syria. Bristlecone pines (Pinus longaeva & aristata) grow in the White Mountains at elevations 9,000 to over 11,000 feet. The oldest trees grow on outcrops of dolomite, an alkaline calcareous, low nutrient soil. Only on the alkaline dolomite will you find pure, relatively dense stands of Bristlecone pine.”
