“Just a great place to walk around and free to enter. For a small fee you can climb the St Rule tower to get an amazing view of the town. Tokens are from the Tourism office inside the Cathedral. On the wall beside the tower is the grave of Young Tom Morris.”

“Falkland Palace, in Falkland, Fife, Scotland, is a royal palace of the Scottish Kings. Today it is under the stewardship of Ninian Stuart, who delegates most of his duties to The National Trust for Scotland. Falkland Palace & Garden provides a unique opportunity to explore a royal ‘pleasure palace’ with a Victorian twist. Inspired by the grand châteaux of France, in the 16th century James IV and his son, James V, transformed this favoured retreat of the royal Stuarts – the palace became one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in Scotland. One of Falkland’s most famous royal residents – Mary, Queen of Scots – was enchanted with the palace, and took advantage of Falkland’s vast estate to pursue falconry and hunting, while also enjoying a game of tennis in what is now the oldest surviving real (or royal) tennis court in the world. Today, visitors can wander through our historic orchard, complete with a living willow labyrinth, and marvel at the beauty of our formal gardens designed by Percy Cane. Although it fell into disrepair after 1660, Falkland Palace was saved from ruin in the 19th century by the 3rd Marquess of Bute. Innovative and passionate, Bute gave the palace a new lease of life. Intricate wood panelling, impressive painted ceilings and beautifully carved furniture provide a visually stunning insight into Bute’s artistic vision, showcasing his respect for the palace’s Renaissance roots.”

“There is a wide selection of places to eat in St. Andrews but one of my favourites is a restaurant called Forgans, here you will be able to sample traditional Scottish dishes and the atmosphere and decor is wonderful. Also, every Saturday night they host a traditional Scottish Ceilidh, think of it like a Scottish barn dance with traditional music and dancing, don’t worry they will teach you the moves and you will have brilliant fun! This is from 10:30pm so you could really make some amazing Scottish memories in a beautiful setting with great food and even better local drinks! You will need to book in advance though because it is really popular with tourists and locals alike.”

“Can feel a little pricey but well worth a visit to experience the views and the tunnel under the moat back to the street. Get your friends to stand by the drain on the corner of N Castle St and the Scores and you can shout up at them!”

“Balgove is a hot with locals. It’s located on a farm on the right just before you arrive in St. Andrews by car. The food is fantastic ... I recommend their scones with Balgove Jam they are to die for! It can sometimes be really busy (especially at the weekend) so prepare for a short wait for a table. The farm shop and butcher is also a great place to pick up some homemade treats and lovely gifts.”

“The Adamson is perfect if you are looking for something a little more refined. The food is exquisite and worth the slightly higher price tag. You can also enjoy an aperitif or one for the road in their cozy cocktail bar just off of the the restaurant. Their cocktails are beautiful and their selection (and knowledge) of the finest Scottish Whisky on offer is unparalleled.”

“Beautiful and definitely one to go and see. Dunfermline is rather overlooked these days but as the old capitol of Scotland it has a very rich history. ”
