“If you think of cemeteries as depressingly dark, underground affairs, Buenos Aires’ Recoleta Cemetery will turn that on its head. Considered the second most beautifuls cementery in the world (after the Pere Lechaise in Paris), the site was declared the city’s first official public burial place in 1822. Aside from being the resting place of the deceased, it is completely unlike a normal cemetery. The place is full of elaborately carved scroll-work and stately pillars that only reach up to your shoulder because all the structures are weirdly mini; it’s more magical than macabre. The burial site of Argentina’s most famous figures, including Evita herself.”

“Although this is not the most beautiful church in Buenos Aires, it is probably the biggest and the site where our national hero, José de San Martin is buried.”

“With its neo-Gothic cathedral looking up to God . At least that was the feeling of the time. The Cathedral is considered a valuable example of religious architecture.”

“The centerpiece of this gleaming white colonial church, built by Franciscans in 1732, is a Peruvian altar adorned with silver from Argentina’s northwest. Inside, head to the left to visit the small but historic cloisters museum; it’s home to religious vestments, paintings, writings and interesting artifacts, and there are good views of Recoleta cemetery. On the left-hand side of the courtyard as you enter the church, look for a ceramic tiled artwork depicting Buenos Aires as it was in 1794, back when the church stood in open countryside outside the town.”

“La Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción es conocida popularmente como "La Iglesia redonda" o "La Redonda", por su forma de estilo renacentista. En su tipología y aspecto, recibió influencias directas de la Iglesia de la Gran Madre di Dio en Turín, y del Panteón de Agripa en Roma. A un par de cuadras del apartamento.”
