The Desert Compass is a 6 suite boutique vacation rental property in Old Town, Albuquerque. Our reimagined historic adobe (earth brick) buildings are surrounded by a lush gardens, a cowboy pool, and all the best desert vibes. Our unique suites are carefully curated with luxury and relaxation in mind - featuring local artwork, antique furniture, vintage and handmade furnishings, and photogenic spaces.

Each suite is a completely private space with a full kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. Our communal style of hospitality allows you to enjoy your own private accommodations, while also having the opportunity to gather with friends or meet new people on the grounds or at the pool. Our entire property is surrounded by a 6 foot privacy wall with gated keypad access for privacy and security, and includes secured off-street parking.

The newly remodeled 1st floor Yucca Suite features:
* A queen memory foam bed with canopy
* Twin daybed with memory foam mattress that can sleep an additional guest
* Remodeled bathroom with tub/shower combo, and a selection of soaps from Public Goods
* Full kitchen with quartz countertops, retro refrigerator, locally made ceramic dishware, locally roasted coffee, and all the kitchen basics you need to make a meal
* Custom art and murals by southwest artist Caroline Clark
* Large window overlooking the gardens and pool, with lots of light
* Living room with Roku TV, dresser and clothing rack
* Dining room with seating for up to 6
* Private patio overlooking the gardens and pool, with small table and chairs to enjoy coffee or a cocktail
* Saltillo tile floors and exposed aspen wood viga ceilings
* Refrigerated air conditioner and heating (please note, our AC unit can be a bit noisy)
* Gated off-street parking space
* Fast wifi and dining table for laptop workspace

The Desert Compass is located in historic Old Town, Albuquerque. Directly across the street is Tiguex Park, the entrance to historic Old Town plaza, the Albuquerque Museum, and a block away is the Museum of Natural History, Explora Science Museum, and Sawmill neighborhood, with the newly built Sawmill Market - an upscale food hall featuring some of the city's best food and drinks.

Historic Old Town has been the heart of Albuquerque since the city was founded here in 1706. Today, Old Town is the city's cultural center, with numerous museums and more than 100 shops, galleries and restaurants. Old Town’s narrow streets and century-old adobe houses are home to New Mexican eateries serving enchiladas and sopapilla pastries, and tiny artisan shops selling jewelry, rugs and pottery. Old Town Plaza is a charming spot overlooked by the 18th-century San Felipe de Neri Church. Nearby, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science has dinosaur skeletons, while the Albuquerque Museum displays Southwestern art.

@thedesertcompass. I spent 2 years remodeling and designing the historic adobe compound that we call The Desert Compass. Adobe is a traditional southwest style of building using sun baked earthen bricks, and we updated each building to bring it into its full potential while preserving its unique history. I collaborated with different New Mexican and Southwest artists on each suite, to feature original murals and works of art that highlight the character and culture of the Southwest.

I love my home state of New Mexico and one of my great passions in life is sharing all of its beautiful desert magic with visitors. I know how important the small details are, and I will make every effort to make your time in New Mexico unforgettable.

We do not live on site, but our manager checks in at the property regularly, and we are available by text/phone should a question or concern arise!
