This magical spot envelops you in the dynamism of the boreal forest right by the water's edge in the Canadian Shield. Our off-grid cabin is located on a tranquil stretch of wilderness surrounded by crown land (and one neighbour). Perfect for wildlife viewing, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, or boat rides. Everything is beautifully designed and lovingly created for an immersive eco experience. Unique features include the screened-in outdoor living room, Scandinavian toilet and private cedar sauna.

Accessible by either your own boat or a 20-minute walk-in, Wild Song Eco Cabin is an off-grid gem nestled in the boreal wilderness, on the very edge of the pristine Winnipeg River. You can kayak, canoe, or explore the area by electric boat (included on grounds). There are many islands, bogs and narrow channels to explore as well as many trails right at your doorstep. Blueberries, crayfish, raspberries and saskatoons dot the landscape of the remarkable Canadian shield country.

Wild Song Eco Cabin is best suited for a couple or a single traveler, who can nest in a comfortable king-size bed. Families or two couples or extra guests are also welcome, as there are 3 extra cots on the upper floor (one double cot in a heater area, and two cots in an unheated area). But we provide bedding only for the main bed, so extra people will need their sleeping bags.

Wild Song Eco Cabin is nestled in a deep forest with no road access. If you do not have your own motorboat, your adventure will begin with parking your car in a designated parking lot by Highway 1, loading your belongings into 2 sturdy gorilla carts, which you will have to pull through a quad trail for a 20-minute beautiful walk-in hike. You have to be in a good shape, have good boots, and be able to physically hike and pull the carts. The trail is uneven and after rain, you might need to navigate some puddles. We love this walk through the forest, as it gives you a chance to shift gears, so that when you get there, you will be in a different reality, away from the civilization, hearing only a distant buzz of the highway when the wind gets quiet. But be prepared, it will take some work to hall all your food and stuff in. We have filtered drinking water so no need to bring water.

Our eco cabin is beautiful in its simplicity and its elegant, efficient design. Each detail has been lovingly thought out to enhance both your comfort and your communion with nature. The main 130sq feet bedroom has a king-sized bed with comfortable hotel bedding and a lovely large-window view of the water's edge, as well as side windows from the bed. The bedroom also has propane heating for chillier nights and is equipped with carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarm. There is an upstairs loft bedroom that can accommodate extra guests (1 double cot in a heated space, and 2 cots in an unheated space), a 200 square feet screened-in outdoor living room, outdoor kitchenette equipped with hot water and drinking water filters, a heated outdoor shower, state of the art Scandinavian incinerator toilet, a private sauna with forest view, outdoor firepit with seating, bench swing on a cliff overlooking river, private dock, kayaks, canoes, and a boat with an electric motor for a very slow exploration of the amazing narrow channels, bogs, cliffs, and islands nearby.

The water by the cabin is typically too low to swim and the bottom is muddy, but there are plenty of excellent boat-accessible swimming spots near and the water is typically excellent to swim during the season.

It's a perfect place to be away from everything human, except for the special humans you will bring with you. It is a deep forest, infinite channels with barely ever any humans, the rocks, and the sky.

We are a family of wilderness lovers who spend most of our spring, summer, and fall at our Wild Song Cabin exploring the river and observing the ever-changing forest and wildlife. In 2022, we are committed to being elsewhere, and so we will be making Wild Song Cabin available for rent to respectful fellow humans who appreciate beauty and stillness as much as we do.
