Welcome to our newly renovated 1970's cottage just 2 blocks from the ocean! Enjoy a quick walk to the beach & being centrally located to all the Outer Banks has to offer. Features a bright & airy open floor plan with exposed beams, and 3 bedrooms with 2 baths for up to 5 or 6 people. In the Winter warm yourself by the fire, & in the Summer cool off in the shade or catch some sun on one of the outdoor loungers. We provide awesome amenities to make your stay easy & relaxed. NO PETS ALLOWED.

Originally built in 1971, our beach cottage is fully remodeled & ready for you! Everything is brand new, mixed with the vintage touches you've come to expect from us. Tall ceilings & exposed beams give a bright & sunny feel to the open floor plan & kitchen area. The fireplace is well loved in the Winter months (but is turned off during Summer). TV's with Netflix & Spotify are in the Living room & all 3 bedrooms.

We provide everything we could think of to make your trip enjoyable and so you can pack light when traveling to the beach. We provide organic cotton linens and towels, including Beach Towels. Six Beach chairs, a nice beach cart, a wheelie cooler & umbrella are provided for your use. There are cornhole boards for playing in the yard. The sectional sofa on the front porch is a nice place to relax in the shade. On the sun deck you can view a glimpse of the ocean, tan in the loungers or enjoy lunch or dinner al fresco!

Downstairs there is a laundry room with washer & dryer. This is also where the beach chairs and a few other beach items are stored. Grill out in the evening on the gas grill downstairs and enjoy the outdoor spaces including picnic tables protected from the rain, and adirondack chairs. (Gas for the grill may need to be changed at Walmart or Ace, and is not guaranteed to be provided although there is a back up tank stored in the downstairs utility room).

In the mornings pop over next door to Mom's Sweet Shop for a smoothie or acai bowl, or come by in the evening for a milkshake or ice cream cone! Mom's is a local hotspot and you'll enjoy being next door to our locally owned & operated establishment.

Our home is best suited for adult guests traveling with friends or other adult family members. As this space is freshly remodeled and features light colored furnishings, we have it listed as 'not suitable for children'. **If after reading our house rules and manual, you feel your family would be comfortable and can leave the home unscathed, please send a request with details for us to consider.**
We allow up to 5 guests, 6 with permission (including any permitted children), and you will be asked to confirm the number & age of guests. You may be asked to leave or will incur an additional fee if this rule is violated, per our short term rental agreement.

We do not allow parties or events of any kind. We will also require a signed recognition that all house rules have been read and will be followed.

We do not allow pets of any kind as our cleaners have severe pet allergies. We aim to provide an allergen-free space for all future guests. There may also be plants in and around the home that are not suitable to pets.

We are situated in a confluence of quaint local and short term rental homes in walking distance to the beach. The smell of salt air is prominent! We love this small neighborhood which is also in walking or biking distance to several local restaurants and to Paradise Fun Park across the street. (NOTE: if crossing the bypass ALWAYS cross at the Helga Street light! Never cross the bypass anywhere other than at a light w/ a crosswalk!) You will be located right next door to our main business, Mom's Sweet Shop where you can grab iced coffee, acai bowls, smoothies & milkshakes, or a gift to take home. It's also just a short walk over to Ashley's Espresso Parlor- the best coffee on the beach! They sell convenience items (craft beers & wine!) and other treats alongside their freshly roasted-in-house coffee, which you can often smell from the cottage. Dunkin Donuts & Henry's Restaurant for breakfast are right across the street. Walk to Avalon Pier in the evenings for a "Pier Beer" and fried pickles, to play a game in the arcade, to fish or to simply take in the ocean views & the salt air. Great spot to watch the moonrise! There is often live music in the Summer, and always locals hanging out. We think you'll love staying here!

We are a self-employed husband and wife team who own and operate a retail & sweet shop on the Outer Banks of NC with an Airbnb above. I’m a native of Kitty Hawk and Derik has been here nearly 30 years, so we have excellent insight on anything you may want to know to guarantee the best Outer Banks experience. We love taking nature walks through our wooded trails, on the beach or through our favorite local neighborhoods to look for birds. We also enjoy long bike rides all over the beach (we have a bunch of good bike paths here and shortcuts that connect all the towns).
Derik enjoys an afternoon at the skate park while I love gardening & cooking. When we get a chance to travel we usually head to the mountains. Since we live at the beach, it’s nice to get a change of scenery & we love the snow! We’re both avid snowboarders, it’s one of our favorite things to do. Steamboat Springs Colorado, the Canyons Utah and Mt.Baker, Washington are a few of our favorite spots to ride. We dream of visiting Japan & Chile to go riding one day! When we’re looking for a tropical vacation we go to the British Virgin Islands which is only a few hours flight from us.
We look forward to being able to travel together more in our future and also to meeting the many folks that Airbnb brings to our door.

We are always nearby & available by message via the Airbnb app if you need anything. We live very close by and are next door at our store most days of the week. We are respectful of our guests and stay out of your hair unless we are needed. Please direct any questions, concerns or issues directly to Derik or Jessica through the numbers provided at check-in. If we notice obvious rules being broken such as parking on the grass, partying, etc, you can expect that we may knock on the door or send you a message. We do hope that our guests will respect this newly renovated space and leave it in perfect condition for all future guests to enjoy.
