So The Grotto has a long lineage of hosting weary travelers. I started several years ago. Not just any travelers. Bicycle Tourers! I’m an adventurer myself and wanted cyclists on the road to have somewhere to stay and find rest and reprieve. As the new paradigm of hosting with Airbnb it seemed like a natural evolution to start hosting all! The added income helps me and my daughter out tremendously! Here at the Grotto it’s nothing fancy. Just a safe homely space to find respite.

So the room is our play/family room. I am typically at home. The kitchen is between our side of the house and yours. In the room you will find a piano. Vinyl records for days! (With a working turntable. Please return records where you found them.) there is also a desk to set up your home office if needed. There is a bunk bed with a comfy twin on top bunk and a futon couch below. (Not so comfy) Also a Canadian futon couch as well. (3 beds total. Plus a bed roll for extra guests.) A private entry takes you out to a picnic table to enjoy meals at or relax in a hammock I can set up upon request. Go out through the sliding back door and find a bbq to grill with a fire pit and bicycles for riding. (You also have access to Kayaks! One tandem and one single. Donations graciously accepted for use of kayaks and or bikes) Plenty to do nearby with grocery, pub, library, and the Snake River with a great beach all within walking distance!

Smack dab in downtown. Anything you need within walking distance. Or grab a Grotto bicycle and cruise around on the bike trail, etc.

I am a gregarious life lover/liver! Single Father. Love the great outdoors. Grew up backpacking with my Father since I was 9. Love bicycling! In fact I host cyclists that are touring cross country at my place currently and that is why I have decided to start hosting through this channel. I’m very laid back and happy to host and serve humanity as best I can! Pretty open minded to allow you to be you on your journey through the beautiful Lewis and Clark Valley!

So, I live right downtown. Great local pub near by. Great eats in the valley and tons of outdoor activities from Bicycling to Kayaking (I have Bikes and Kayaks for you to use), Fishing, Hiking to name a few. So much beautiful wonder here. Right at the confluence of the Snake and ClearWater Rivers. I live about a five minute walk from the Snake River. A stones throw away! Such rich Native culture here to explore. The History alone is enough to keep one occupied for weeks!

I am currently only doing freelance work so schedule is flexible.

Keep in mind we will be there in the house most of the time. (Opposite side of the house) I have a fairly active schedule though and am out of town often, but can make arrangements for keys, etc.

You could probably talk me into guiding an adventure for an additional fee. I would be happy to guide you on a backpacking, hiking, bicycling or kayak trip! Want to explore the town? Sure, lets!
