We will meet you outside the National Museum of Scotland, by the statue of William Chambers (this is on Chambers Street, the guide will be holding a large green and white umbrella). This Museum can be broadly split into two halves, the Victorian building which covers natural history, the sciences and global history and the modern building which has over six floors dedicated to the history of Scotland. We will enter the museum visiting first the grand Victorian atrium where we will give an introduction to the museum and have an opportunity to take photos in the stunning four story high exhibition space. We will then take you towards the modern building passing exhibits such as Dolly the Sheep and this is where the tour begins in earnest. We begin in the basement level which concerns itself with the pre human history of Scotland we then begin to rise through each of the different levels of the museum spanning thousands of years of Scottish history right up until the modern day. We use the fantastic museum collections as great props to supplement our stories of folk and folklore as we firmly believe that it is through story telling that people truly learn the most and it is this human touch that we can add that really helps bring the museum alive rather than simply walking around by yourself.
