We meet on the Plains of Abraham, an historic and beautiful place. Here's the plan : 1) Quick Warm-up & Introduction to Quebec city's History 2) Snowshoe Setup (during winter season) 3) Excursion in the Forest Trails The locals know about this : there are amazing forest trails on the Plains of Abraham, overlooking the St-Lawrence river. I will guide you to the exact place where 4500 british soldiers climbed, one night of september 1759, in order to win the famous Battle of the Plains of Abraham. We'll cover the history of the battle in detail, and I'll show you amazing spots in the forest (good pictures). 3) Native American History & Herbal Medicine We'll cover the Native American history of Quebec in detail. The Iroquois tribe had a good knowledge of herbal medicine. We'll harvest and use 3 medicinal plants during the excursion. 4) Maple Syrup, Snack, Tea and Quick Yoga Session At the end of the excursion, we'll go to a beautiful shelter in the middle of nature. I'll show you how we traditionally cook and eat maple syrup at the sugar shack. It's called " tire d'érable ", usually translated as maple taffy. We'll also have some tea and a healthy snack (fresh fruits, organic nuts). Finally, I'll guide you through a 2-minutes easy yoga session for beginners, just for fun. *NOTE* Early bird discount of 20% for bookings made 2 weeks in advance or more.
*NOTE* The snowshoe season is started! There is already half a meter of powder snow here. I was born and raised in Quebec city. I'm a yoga teacher, personal trainer, and medical student. The Plains of Abraham are my playground : I've been snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and playing hockey there for more than 15 years. It will be my pleasure guide you through the forest trails, and share the history of the place with you! This experience runs every season of the year : In the fall season (september to november), we hike though the colors of the autumn leaves : simply gorgeous. In the winter season (mid-november to march), this is a snowshoe excursion (snowshoe rental included). Don't worry if you have never done snowshoe before, I'll teach you. It's not hard, and it's a lot of fun.
