We will meet at a local cafe built in the 1880's, and from there we will walk thru historical downtown Ensenada, discussing its interesting landmarks. We will continue to the local fish market, greeting and interacting with local fishmongers. A nice stroll by the pier will take us to Flag Square on our way to Riviera Pacifico, a beautiful place full of history of Ensenada and its surroundings. We will talk about Baja's history, its flora and fauna, the Spanish explorers and the native groups which forged this region. We will visit the local History Museum discussing the history and culture of the pre and post-colonial periods. We will also swing by the Center for the Arts. We will wrap up our tour walking along stores, cafes, and artisan bakeries. This is a walking tour, which we will do at your pace. No steep hills are included, all the time walking along downtown Ensenada, and on flat ground. Besides learning about Ensenada and Baja's interesting history and culture, we will discuss the local food scene, important wineries and up and coming breweries. I will be providing lots of suggestions regarding things to do and where to go. Join me in this interesting and fun tour!
I was raised in Baja and have many stories and interesting facts to share about Ensenada and the region. As faculty since over 25 years ago, I know the importance of a coherent, well presented delivery. Because of my travels I have interacted with persons from Europe, Asia, and of course from Mexico, USA, and Canada. As the person in charge for International Affairs at a regional university I have experience entertaining groups in Ensenada and know the importance of quality hosting. ... and have often shown and presented to them the specific places, activities and history I have included in this Experience.

The cafe where we will meet is special: not easily found, it is a historical building with a nice collection of pictures and vintage objects. The local fish market, not frequented by tourists, presents an opportunity to interact with the vendors, a unique part of Ensenada's culture. The history museum: tucked inside a must see historical building which is a gem by itself. The side streets we will take to experience the city are unique as well!
