We will meet at my home kitchen located on Russian Hill in San Francisco where I will teach you how to make a Japanese home-cooked meal from scratch. The class will cover the basics of Japanese home cooking and students will learn how to create umami flavors using Japanese ingredients that are found in every household in Japan. In this class we will make a rice dish, Oyako Donburi, which uses chicken and egg and is a very popular home cooked meal in Japan. We will also prepare two side dishes as well as miso soup, which is a staple of the Japanese diet. We will then enjoy the prepared dishes with green tea. I will provide all of the ingredients and cooking implements, as well as recipes which you can take home with you.
