On this two day adventure, we leave Cape Town early in the morning to drive up to Paternoster, the white-and-pastel coloured beach town a two hour drive up the Atlantic shore. We gather at a local fish and chips- type of restaurant for a lunch, followed by drinks at the local luxury resort. We then head to the Paternoster Nature Reserve, where we check in at the Sea Shack. The Sea Shack is an exercise in scaling down and reconnecting with nature. The little shacks are perched right by the ocean and have everything you need - but nothing more. Next we go to Wolfgat, named 2019 Best Restaurant in the World at the World Restaurant Awards in Paris. Wolfgat is a tiny, beach-cottage sized restaurant were the tight-knit team around Chef Kobus does everything together - from foraging for ingredients to cooking to bringing the food out and speaking passionately about it - to cleaning up together. With filled bellies we return to our cottage. Those of us who are still fit can tour the legendary bar (look it up!) at the Paternoster Hotel. The next morning we walk in the reserve and head to a local art studio were the artist-in-residence will teach us how to use clay. Artwork in tow we head back to Cape Town.
