We'll start out at my house for espresso & homemade whole-grain toast that uses locally-grown and milled flour. Next we'll get to mixing and baking your own loaves. You will leave with a vigorous sourdough starter, plus a loaf of whole-grain, naturally-leavened bread. Not only that, but you'll have the knowledge to go home and start making your own bread regularly! While we wait for your bread to rise, we'll visit some of Portland's best bakeries. Other things to note
Arrange transportation to and from my house, but I will provide complimentary transportation to the bakeries we will visit. We'll have breakfast together and there will be plenty of snacks.

The whole experience with Adrian was fantastic. She is a very passionate home baker with lots of knowledge and experience. It was a fun class with history, facts, hands-on training alongside yummy slices of bread and coffee. Adrian also took us to some of her favorite places for bread tasting which was awesome. I am definitely inspired and hope to keep at it. I highly recommend taking a class with her and you might end up being a bread maker for life.

Adrian's knowledgeable about the process of bread making and goes step by step to make sure her audience understands the whole process and history behind bread making. I didn't expect a history lesson but I came out of the class much more knowledgeable and appreciative about the process and can't wait to try it on my own!

I have been making bread off and in for years and struggled with the wild sourdough and never could “get it right”. Adrian’s bread making class was FABULOUS!! I learned so many things about flour, yeast, ingredients, sourdough starter, and more. I highly recommend this class for home bakers - especially those of us that haven’t quite mastered the technique! One thing that made the experience particularly meaningful was Adrian sharing her personal story and bread making journey. She was open and encouraged questions. We covered specific brands and types of flour, and near the end of the class we visited a store that carries the flour and other ingredients that we used in the bread making. Treat yourself to a few hours that might change your life - and your family members’ lives (presuming they’ll be eating your delicious bread)!!

I so enjoyed learning from Adrian - she knows all the ins/outs of bread baking with a natural leavening (sourdough starter). I would happily recommend this experience to anyone!

I've always had issues with making bread, and Adrian's class taught me so much more than just the act of baking bread! I had a great time learning more about the different types of flour and tips on how to manage problems that may arise during the breadmaking process.
