I organize only real trekking trips without any bamboo rafting or any elephant. It is about going far and high to discover remote areas, beautiful landscape and enjoy a physical activity. Expect at least 5 hours hiking with long distance and elevation gain. This route is an old path created by the Hmong tribes of Doi Pui 60 years ago; it was the only way for them to communicate with people of the valley. Total distance is 17k and elevation gain is 900 The trip starts at the beautiful Wat Doi Suthep temple. Behind the temple we take a hidden path and plunge headlong into a first stretch of jungle. It comes as a shock to hike in these long green tunnels whose very density is impressive. The undulating paths are in many places punctuated by fallen branches and tree trunks which we have to step over. When we reach a 1st Hmong village after a constant way up, it’s a complete change of atmosphere and climate: the forest is clearing out and pine trees are replacing banana trees. After a break for lunch, we continue to hike up. The slope gets gets progressively harder and becomes steep so we have to use our hands to help us at some points. High in the sky we follow a magnificent line of ridges edged in pine trees. When we reach our target of the day, the summit of Doi Pui (1685m), the view on the mountains all around is impressive. It was worth the effort.
I’m Rattana, I come from the countryside in North of Thailand. After I discovered trekking in France 5 years ago, I decided to investigate the mountain trails around Chiang Mai & search for some routes by myself. I was amazed by all the opportunities offered in France and I wanted to create similar hiking routes here. For several years I’ve discovered many beautiful and remote areas around Chiang Mai. I was impressed by what my country can offer. From rice fields to high mountains, from wild jungle to summits with impressive views, it’s a complete change of scenery and a paradise for real hikers. I want now to share my knowledge with other outdoor enthusiasts who visit my country. 2 years ago I got my certification as guide and I registered to the Tourism Authority of Thailand. It will be a pleasure to show you my trekking routes.

National Park Wat Doi Suthep Temple

The trip is hold in the Hmong mountain of Doi Pui located 10km far from Chiang Mai. Hmong people arrived there from Laos the last century and settled high in the mountains to grow poppy crops. The footpath we use was created to communicate with the valley at a time there was no road. It has become a National Park and is one of the most beautiful areas I know to go hiking.
