After touching briefly on it's history and it's development we will make our way over to the STADHUIS (city hall). - At the STADHUIS we can take some awesome pictures and I'll show you some interesting features about the building, that you normally wouldn't know. - Next stop will be the LAURENSKERK, one of the most iconic and the biggest church in Rotterdam. - After a short stop at the Laurenskerk, we will make our way to the famous MARKTHAL. I will give you some insight to the construction of the building, as I've witnessed it myself. This is where we'll have a short break and try out some local treats, like 'haring' and 'stroopwafels'. - With a stomach full of treats, we will make our way over to the KUBUSWONINGEN (cube houses). Here we will dazzle over the weird designed houses, where people actually live. I will give you some details about the houses and it's history. - Through the backside of the cube houses we will head over to the WILLEMSBRUG and cross over to the other side of the river. - Our journey ends at the infamous ERASMUSBRUG.
I was born and raised in the city of Rotterdam and know the place by heart. I have studied Urban Planning at the college of Rotterdam and now how cities are designed and developed. Through my education and by being a local, I can give you a unique insight into the history and back stories of some of the most iconic and lesser known gems of the city. I'm also a avid traveler and love to explore new countries and cities. So I know what it's like being a tourist/foreigner in a unknown city. With this in mind, I want to provide you with a unique experience, where you'll be exploring the city through the eye of a local. You'll get to know local phrases, eat local treats and know about the local history that most Dutch people don't even know about.
