As a State College resident for 15 years, I've climbed Mount Nittany many times each season and have heard and shared the history and legends of Happy Valley with friends and alums. I'm happy to share my love of this area with visitors!

Join me at the base of Mt. Nittany for introductions and an overview of the etymology and geography of Mount Nittany before starting our ascent. The climb to the top will take about 30 minutes, with two breaks at the log benches on the trail (at about the halfway mark and two-thirds of the way up). All hiking skill levels welcome! It can be challenging because it is steep, however, the climb is a fairly short one (1000 yards to the top, 600 feet up), and we'll go at a pace that works for everyone.

We'll start at the trailhead at the end of Mount Nittany Road in Lemont (about a 5 minute drive from campus) and take the white trail to the Mike Lynch Overlook. After spending some time at the top, we'll take the same path back.
