Lying at an altitude of about 3,500 feet above sea level in the north-eastern corner of Sarawak is the famous Bario Highland, a Kelabit territory, one of the minority Orang Ulu tribes of Sarawak. Bario means ‘Wind’ in Kelabit language. (the correct pronunciation is ‘Bariew’). It is affectionately known as the ‘land of a hundred handshakes’as this is how friendly locals will greet you as you wander around the community. We charge RM100 per pax. Meals are provided upon request.
Ribedinan Homestay, Bario welcomes everyone. We are situated in the Kelabit Highlands. Weather is usually cool at night and in the morning and hot yet breezy in the afternoon. This is a community of farmers planting special Bario rice, pineapples and special mineral salt. Our home is comfortable, clean and we serve great local foods. Places like the prayer mountain, the salt factory are popular with visitors. For those who are fit enough hiking into Pulong Tau National Park is also popular.
